Yesterday was my mom's birthday. Since both of my parents determine their birthday by the lunar calender, their birthday changes every year.
Anyways, yesterday was my mom's birthday, and i wanted to do something special for her since i WORK and make money, but i decided to just send her one gift for her birthday/mother's day.
I felt kinda guilty that i only got her one gift. oh well.. so i just wanted to talk to my dad if she's ok with that so I logged on and started to talk to him. My dad and i were trying to think about getting a special gift for mom and then i told him to get her a birthday cake and some flowers. After searching some websites, my dad ordered some flowers through online.

When i called her a few hours later, she told me that she received a basket of 100 roses w/ a card, a cake and non-alcohol champagne. She was totally hyper so i thought... 'yeh.. you got 100 roses,huh? you must be so happy!!'
But all of a sudden,
she said:"Gyju, this is the FIRST birthday card i ever received from your dad!"
me:"WHHHHAAT TTTTHHHEE HHHHEEECCCKK??"
mom:"Even though we have been married for 25 years, this is the FIRST birthday card that your dad wrote to me!"

so i was pretty shocked and asked dad why he did not send mom a card before.. and he said.. "It's just so weird to tell her that I love her.. we see everyday and it's just too weird to say that all of sudden.. "
oooohhhh mmmyyy... my dad is so Korean!! I hope none of your fathers are like him!
FATHERS, HUG YOUR WIVES AND SAY, "I LOVE YOU!"

Joe also asked me why i did not know that my dad never wrote her a card on her birthdayS. So i started to think about her previous birthdays. After a few min later, i realized that i only saw her having a birthday party just once when i visited Korea with joe like 2 years ago. That was it.. She never had either a birthday party or some special dinner for her birthday. I only remember when my grandma was alive, she brought some crabs for mom because that was her favorite food. But after my grandma passed away, i came to the states so..yeh, i wasn't with my mom on her birthdays. Yeh.. now i feel so bad that none of us really did not care about her birthday!

Anyways, my mom was just soooo happy that dad actually mentioned that he loves her on the last line of the birthday card and gave her 100 roses!
Even though she used to say that buying that many flowers is a waste of money, she loves them now! hehe..
