Hello all.
I've been MIA from the blogger scene since I'm doing a general med floor month now. Pretty busy admitting patients, working up their problems, discharging patients and back again. After doing 2 weeks of this, I can honestly say I AM SO GLAD I AM GOING INTO RADIOLOGY!!! It's not that I don't like ppl. Actually, it's very rewarding to be able to help and heal patients. But the saying that "one rotten apple spoils the whole barrel" rings so true for me.
The problem patients who have assumed the sick role and find security in being hospitalized and cared for, the drug seekers who feign excrutiating pain so they can get their fix, etc. It's so hard to deal with these patients because I realized that no matter how hard I try, they can't be helped....at least during their stay in the hospital. Their problems extend beyond the physical into the emotional/mental/spiritual realm...it would be too time consuming to address all of these issues while other sick patients are waiting to be cared for.
I dunno...maybe He's trying to reveal my lack of love and patience...
