Man, I want a new car so bad! I was flipping through R&T...this month's issue had a special on new cars for 2005. I had my eye on a few (like 20) cars that I'd like to get, but alas, residency is not paying very well. I've pretty much resolved to sticking with my Honda Civic until I finish residency. But maybe I can muster up some money to modify my Civic....not turn it into a Batmoblile, but at least make it more fun to drive...
Couldn't fall asleep last night after playing GT3 all day. So I got out of bed at 2AM and spent a couple hours on the internet, researching performance options for my Civic and Gyju's Jetta. Here's my humble wishlist:
Honda Civic
-New tires--> BF Goodrich Traction T/A-H 185/65 R14SL...gotta stick with the stock wheels since I can't afford new rims, although I'm dying to get some 16"ers.
-H&R OE Sport Springs (lowers front and rear ~.75") VS. Eibach Pro-Kit springs (1-1.5" lowering). I don't wanna lower the car too much since roads in Chicago are bumpy and it snows a lot....any opinions on which set? And should I change the stock shocks?
-Maybe a new header and a cold air intake???
-strut rods, tie bars, and stiffer anti roll bars....dunno if I really need these though
-a modest aero kit would be nice...front lip, side skirts, and a rear valence, that's all...
...And if I somehow get some extra money on the side, then I'll do some work on Gyju's car too...
VW Jetta
-1.8T performance chip...will boost the HP from 180 to ~220!
-Eibach Pro-Kit and Pro-Damper
-17" wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE950's
-Oettinger Aero kit
-Cold air intake
....Well, I guess even upgrading my car will have to wait until some more cash flow comes my way. I doubt I'll ever be able to touch the Jetta...my Civic definitely comes first!
