Merry Christmas and a happy new year everybody!
(two weeks ago...) So I took my Jetta to a dealer (West Suburban Imports VW) across the street from my work for the first time back in October for an oil change. Since my car was there all day, they went ahead and did some recall repairs on the seat heaters. A couple days later, I found a spring rolling around under the passenger seat. I finally took the car back there two weeks ago to get it fixed and this is what happened.
I pull into the service area at around 8am. I tell the service guy about the loose spring and he says it'll be taken care of in 10 minutes. So I go and look at the cars in the showroom. 10 minutes later, the service guy tells me the spring is back in and I'm ready to go. So I get in my car and drive across the street into the hospital lot. Being the anal guy that I am, I look under the passenger seat to make sure they did it right....only to find that the spring was NOT INSTALLED!
Now I'm furious, jump in the driver's seat and floor the gas with tires screeching. I drive back across the street to the dealer, pull into the service area, and find the service guy.
I ask him, "You guys are professionals, so could you show me exactly where the spring was placed? Cuz I don't see it."
He says, "Did you pull the seat out of the car and look? Cuz you can't see it unless you do."
I say, "Well, I can see it on the driver's side, but not on the passenger side. So could you show me where it exactly goes?!"
"You can't see it unless you take out the seat...you don't even really need that spring anyway," he says with an annoyed and anxious tone. "Let me go talk to the mechanic who worked on your car," he says.
5 minutes later, he comes back and says, "You know what, I made a mistake. (Yeah right, I thought) The mechanic didn't put the spring back in. Your whole seat frame needs to be replaced, so we ordered it."
Profanities are running through my head, but not making it out of my mouth. "How could you tell me it's fixed and let me go. How was I supposed to know to come back and have the frame replaced?!! Forget it! Just give me the spring back so I can leave."
He says, "What are you gonna do with the spring? You can't put it back in...the whole frame needs to be replaced. We'll do it for you."
"FORGET IT!! JUST RETURN THE SPRING TO ME SO I CAN LEAVE!" I yelled.
The service guy disappears for 5 minutes, then comes back and stutters, "Uh, I don't know why, but the mechanic threw the spring away."
"WHAT???!!! I WANT MY SPRING NOW SO GO FIND IT!"
The next thing I see, three guys put on their coats and go out the back door towards the dumpster. About 5 minutes later, they come back with the spring, all cold and covered with snow. The service guy wipes it down and gives it back. I snatch it and leave.
Lesson of the story: Don't go to West Suburban Imports in Maywood, IL....they lie to your face. Actually, most auto dealers do! These guys never even pulled out the seat...they just threw the spring away and thought I wouldn't know the difference. #$%!@#$!@#$#!@, makes me so angry thinking about it!
(1 week ago...) So Gyju and Kyle were sick last weekend. Kyle had been coughing a lot. Well, on Christmas Day at 4 am, Kyle went into a coughing spell while he was sleeping. Gyju woke up to check on him. Next thing, I hear Gyju yelling my name. So I stumble my way to the living room to find Gyju holding Kyle, trying to wipe his face.
"Kyle was coughing but then he threw up and his face was in his vomit!" Gyju said.
When I examined Kyle, he was crying and wheezing while he was breathing. I thought he might have inhaled and aspirated some of his vomit. So I go to the closet and dust off my stethoscope (I'm a radiology resident, so I haven't used a stethoscope in awhile). I listen to his lungs, and they sound ok. But he kept audibly wheezing. "We better take him to the ER," I said.
So we all put on some clothes and make our way to Children's Memorial, which is in the neighborhood. But by the time we get there, Kyle is breathing a lot easier and is no longer wheezing. We stayed to make sure he was ok. He was finally seen about 1 hour later, and the doc said everything was fine.
Thank God everything was fine. It was pretty scary though....finding your child to be potentially very sick.
(this upcoming week...) So we are finally closing on our new condo this Tuesday!!! We went to our final walk-through inspection last Thursday to check the quality of the build. Gyju and I were really surprised...it turned out better than expected. They did a great job with the whole building...the lobby looked very stylish. The parking spaces in the garage were spacious...we could probably fit two Mini Coopers bumper to bumper in our single space. The workout room and party room were nice. They're in the middle of building the pool and the theater room!
I just hope nothing goes wrong with our closing. Pray for us guys!
